Metal Hangers to Keep Clothes Wrinkle Free

Like all hangers, metal hangers can come in styles
that are cheap and will spoil your clothes, or
moderately priced and fine for daily use that

Look for hangers made of steel with a chrome
finish or a wrapping of plastic. Make sure the

support your clothing, especially garments that
might requite plus size hangers like coats, and
check to see that swivel hooks move freely without
grease or light oil. The ends of hooks should be
smooth, so as not to catch on clothing. Another
way to tell good hangers from bad: cheap metal
hangers make an unmusical clashing sound when they
meet: higher-quality hangers have a more
substantial, bell-like tone.

Metal hangers are often made with clasps to hold
pants or skirts: these clasps should be mirror
smooth on the inside, preferably lined with a
fabric or foam that prevents the metal from
contacting the clothing. Their grip should be
strong without placing reliance on metal grooves
chiseled in the clasps: those metal grooves are
rarely entirely smooth, and can snag and ruin your
clothes. Some metal hangers are available with
slim foam pads that reach over the shoulders.
These are ideal for protecting fragile blouses,
whose slight weight could stretch seams without
having an underpadding.
