Shirt Hangers to Keep Clothes Wrinkle Free
Shirt hangers are the most widely-used clothes hanger. Calling them shirt hangers is probably not actually politically correct. When used to hang women’s tops and blouses we refer to them as blouse hangers of hangers for tops. If someone only has one type of hanger in the house, it is most likely this type of blouse and shirt hanger. These type of hangers come in wood, plastic or metal, and many are a combination of wood and metal or plastic and metal. Hanging shirts, blouses, and tops is absolutely necessary to keeping them neat and wearable right out of the closet. Normally when shirts are folded (however neatly) the creases that form are unsightly. Men might put up with the creases, but women seldom do.

A shirt or blouse hanger should have smooth surfaces to prevent snagging. They should not contain notches (although there are special versions for womens tops with speghetti straps), clips or hooks for straps, since shirts need a smooth expanse of hanger for the best support. The shoulders should slope slightly to mimic the set of human shoulders. In general, the more expensive the garment, the more it will fit true to the body, so costlier shirts will be more likely to have seams that curve in imitation of shoulders, neck and arm of the wearer.

Many shirt hangers also contain a central bar. In a well-made hanger, this bar can be used to make the hanger multi-functional: it is possible to hang casual pants or slacks from a sturdy central bar. However, if you want your shirts to keep their smoothness and shape, it is advisable to hang shirts separately from other garments: having a skirt or pants on the central bar will push the shirt out of shape.

When hanging a shirt on a hanger, button the top button, and then at least every other button all the way to the shirt tail. Having the buttons secured keeps shirts and blouses hanging as they should on the main hanger body rather than swaying or slipping away to the outside as it does when shirts are tossed on the hanger unbuttoned. In addition to a neater overall appearance, shirts that are buttoned on the hanger will not slip off while you are hanging other clothes or looking for something to wear.
